8 Mysteries From Season 3's Finale Finally Solved (2024)

Warning: There are spoilers ahead for From season 3, episode 10, "Revelations: Chapter Two."From is known for its mysteries, many of which are answered in the season 3 finale. Since the beginning of the series, there have been many overarching mysteries, including why From's cast of characters are trapped in the Town and what the truth is behind the vicious and manipulative monsters that emerge every night. When Boyd Stevens (Harold Perrineau) and Sara Myers (Avery Konrad) venture into the forest at the end of season 1, they encounter a bottle tree, and another bottle tree is also introduced in season 2, with the trees being one of the show's primary mysteries.

In addition to the overarching questions, there have been more character-specific mysteries, such as whom the Boy in White (Vox Smith) is and what has been growing inside of Fatima (Pegah Ghafoori) during her unnatural pregnancy. At times, the series has been criticized for introducing too many questions without providing answers. That criticism should be put to rest after the From season 3 ending, which sees many of the show's most important and long-running mysteries being answered.

8 What Do From's Bottle Tree Numbers Mean?

There Are Numbers Inside The Bottles

Each of the bottles hanging from the bottle trees contain slips of paper with a series of four numbers written on them. A From season 3 theory suggested that the numbers were addresses and could be used to travel to specific addresses when going through a faraway tree. Another popular fan theory was that the numbers were years from the past, present, and future that residents had been trapped in the Town. In the show, Jade Herrerra fishes all the slips of paper out of the bottles and has been desperate to understand the meaning behind them.

Why Sara Does THAT To Elgin In From’s Season 3 Finale

Sara does something horrific to Elgin in the From season 3 finale, but she only does so in order to protect someone who has looked out for her.

The meaning of From's bottle tree numbers is now finally revealed as the musical notes to a lullaby that Jade and Tabitha Matthews (Catalina Sandino Moreno) used to sing to the Town's children. Jim Matthews (Eion Bailey) is the key to unlocking the bottle tree numbers' mystery when he suggests that the 12 numbers may be the 12 notes on a musical scale. Jade plays the lullaby on a violin while standing in front of one of the bottle trees, and the song summons the "Anghkooey" children.

7 What Is Growing Inside Of Fatima?

Her Pregnancy Has Been Traumatic

The joy surrounding Fatima's pregnancy in season 2 has been quickly eclipsed by the horrors of season 3. The pregnancy has caused Fatima to crave blood and rotten vegetables, all while experiencing horrendous pain, and even being driven to murder the kindly Tillie (Deborah Grover) in From season 3, episode 7. Fatima has seen her stomach caving in and feels something growing inside her, yet the ultrasound conducted by Kristi (Chloe Van Landschoot) and Marielle (Kaelen Ohm) show that she is not pregnant.

The terrifying truth comes to light in the season 3 finale as Fatima gives birth to the disturbing From monster known as Smiley (Jamie McGuire), who Boyd previously killed in season 2, episode 6. Smiley emerges out of the placenta fully grown and as if he has never died. The unnatural nature of Fatima's pregnancy, her cravings for blood and rotten food, the ultrasound being unable to detect a human fetus, and the murderous desire to kill Tillie all make sense as being rooted in the rebirth of a monster.

6 Why Did The Kimono Woman Want Fatima To Give Birth?

She Has Made Sure The Birth Happens At Any Cost

The Kimono Woman (Shuoxin Fu) has been appearing before Elgin (Nathan D. Simmons) since season 2. In season 3, it gradually becomes clear that her goal is for Fatima to give birth and that she has been manipulating Elgin to ensure this happens. In From season 3, episode 9, she even places her hand over Fatima's mouth and silences her so that she is not found when Tabitha, Julie Matthews (Hannah Cheramy), and Victor Kavanaugh (Scott McCord) are in the root cellar.

The Kimono Woman's investment in Fatima giving birth was always about ensuring that Smiley was reborn.

When Fatima's baby is born, the Kimono Woman takes the placenta into the tunnels below where all the other monsters can watch Smiley be reborn. This clarifies that the Kimono Woman's investment in Fatima giving birth was always about ensuring that Smiley was reborn. This is why she first appeared before Elgin after Smiley died, as she was already beginning to play the long game of manipulating Elgin into holding Fatima captive and feeding her his own blood in season 3.

5 What Does “Anghkooey” Mean?

The Children Have Been Trying To Help Tabitha And Jade

Since season 2, Tabitha has seen children who repeat the phrase "Anghkooey" over and over again. At first, she is scared of them, and thinks that they want to hurt her, but she eventually realizes that they want her help and are trying to communicate with her. This is largely grounded in learning that Victor's mother, Miranda (Sarah Booth), believed that the children were locked in a tower and that they needed to be saved. However, communicating with the children is made more challenging by Tabitha not knowing what "Anghkooey" means.

From Season 3 Confirms A Devastating Theory About The Anghkooey Children's Deaths

From tragically reveals who killed the "Anghkooey" children and why, which confirms a popular fan theory that gained more traction across season 3.

1

That is no longer the case after the season 3 finale, as Tabitha and Jade now understand that "Anghkooey" means to remember. The numbers left inside the bottles, the lullaby based on the corresponding musical notes, and the children have been trying to get Tabitha and Jade to remember who they are and what their purpose in the Town has been all along. This is further proof that Jade was right about the children and the bottle trees being connected.

4 How Are Tabitha And Jade Connected To Miranda And Christopher?

Their Connections Change The Entire Show

The bottle tree numbers, the lullaby, and the children successfully get Tabitha and Jade to remember that they have been to the Town many times before and were even there before the children were killed. One of these children was their own daughter. In the years since, they have repeatedly tried and failed to save the children and set them free, including Miranda, who was a past version of Tabitha, and Christopher (Thom Payne), who was a past version of Jade.

This explains why Tabitha has so many similarities with Miranda and why Jade has so many similarities with Christopher. Tabitha and Miranda are both loving towards Victor and are both committed to saving the children because they are the same person. The same concept explains why both Jade and Christopher keep seeing the symbol, why they keep searching for answers, and why Jade has seen visions of Christopher and Jasper. Tabitha and Jade are stuck in a loop that they are still fighting to break.

3 Who Was The Voice On The Radio?

He Was Subtly Shown Earlier In Season 3

When Jim sends a radio signal out at the end of season 1, he hears an ominous voice at the other end that tells him that his wife shouldn't be digging a hole, which refers to the hole Tabitha dug below their house in the Town. Two seasons later, the voice is revealed to be the frightening Man in the Yellow Suit (Douglas E. Hughes), who emerges in the final moments of the season 3 finale. He says to Jim that he tried to warn him and repeats the line about how Jim's wife should not have dug that hole.

One of Miranda's paintings from earlier in season 3 was of the Man in the Yellow Suit, which set up his later introduction.

The Man in the Yellow Suit is likely From's overarching villain and the greatest source of evil in the Town. He intervened in season 1 because Tabitha digging the hole led to unlocking important truths. Now that Jade has unlocked the full truth about himself and Tabitha, the Man in the Yellow Suit has intervened again, and this time, he makes Jim pay the price by tearing out his throat. Donna Raines (Elizabeth Saunders) is there in season 1 when Jim hears the voice, which may come back into play in From season 4.

2 Who Killed From's Children?

Victor Already Hinted At This Dark Truth

In From season 3, episode 8, Victor remembers what the Boy in White told Christopher all those years ago. This includes that the children were murdered in the dark by people that they loved and trusted. While this specific detail was only introduced two episodes before the season 3 finale, since season 2, it has been clear that the children are deceased, which has raised the question of who killed these young, innocent souls in the first place.

Between Fatima and Tabitha, the two characters provide the rest of the information that is needed to confirm the killers' identities. The Town's residents killed the children, including Tabitha and Jade's daughter, in exchange for immortality. Tabitha says "it," promised them immortality, which may refer to the Man in the Yellow Suit. His ability to openly move during the daytime, being the voice on the radio, and his knowledge of what various residents are doing make him seem more powerful than the other monsters and may mean that he is the one who has the power to grant immortality.

1 How Were From's Monsters Created?

Their Origins Are As Horrific As They Are

✕ Remove Ads

The individuals who sacrificed their children became the monsters, and in exchange for these sacrifices, they became immortal. This is why Smiley is able to be reborn despite Boyd killing him in season 2, as the monsters' immortality prevents them from being killed, and death is only temporary. In the spirit of many fantastical stories, immortality comes at an inhumane price, which is these individuals living on as monsters who can only go outside when it is night.

From was renewed for season 4 on November 21, 2024.

It is fitting that the monsters are horrific creatures as they were born out of the horrific sin they committed when they murdered the children. Since the monsters cannot be killed and were born out of killing the children, the key to defeating the monsters is likely related to saving the children. Now that Tabitha and Jade remember who they really are and what their purpose is, they have the best chance of fulfilling this mission, and potentially defeating the monsters and finding a way to forever escape the Town as From continues.
