Hi! I am trying to synchronize audio and video clips in Final Cut Pro X but the options to Synchronize Clips is greyed out.

The video is from a Sony ZV-1 and the audio is from an audio interface connected to my Macbook Pro, recording in QuickTime.

The clips line up perfectly if I do it manually but this is very frustrating because the Synchronize Clips option is so convenient.

Any ideas? I updated all my software.

You can’t sync the clips inside the project. They have to be in the browser. You sync them there, and they are combined into a sync clip, which is edited into the project. Select the clip with the playhead over it and press ⇧ F. This will place a copy in the browser.

If you’re importing with drag and drop it’s always best to drag to an event in the browser first, and make a selection there to edit into the project.

  • Synchronize Clips in FCP X is suddenly not workingI have been using FCP for 13 years and FCP X for the last 3 (currently 10.4.8). I use synchronize clips all the time to link audio from zoom H4n to 4k footage (Sony A7iii) but all of a sudden last week it just stopped working correctly and can't sync anything. I thought it might be my OS so I just upgraded to 10.15.5, but it did not help. Any thoughts? 48213

  • IMovie audio syncI’ve got a audio file that syncs to the video when I’m playing them separately (audio through itunes and the video through the mac’s quicktime player) but as soon as I add them to iMovie, alongside another video (which is just a different angle of the same take) the video starts drifting out of sync.I’ve created another project with just the audio and the problematic video and the audio sync was fine but as soon as I add anything else, nothing syncs up 751

Can you show us where the clips are exactly? How were they imported?

I have both clips in my Download folder, and dragged them directly into the timeline.

I also tried turning the audio file into a WAV file and that didn't help.
