C'mon, you can literally speedrun this thing. Just get some basic bait, like Worms, craft Enchanted Nightcrawlers (optional) and bed. Craft Reinforced fishing pole and do 30 quests, and you guaranteed to get this pole after 30th quest. I always get it pre-Skeletron, which totally kills the purpose of other Fishing Rods - Mechanics and especially Sitting Ducks (It has the best sprite, am I right?).
My suggestion is to make this Rod totally RNG, just like Endless Water Bucket. Let's say, 1/50 chance to get it after 25th quest completed.
I mean it's not that bad to use Sitting Duck's Pole, it's only 10% fishing power loss. You can wear full set of Angler Armor, FP accesories, sit on the toilet and drink beer.
I know many won't like it, but IMO it's not right for the Best fishing Pole being so easily obtainable.
Also this suggestions gives some use for my another suggestion about special bonuses of other fishing poles. Click.

You mean the same bottomless water bucket that is these days guaranteed as reward on the 25th quest?

Well if you're speed running things, what do you expect if not for a lot of things to rapidly become obsolete?

I see where you're coming from, but at the end of the day, it's a fishing pole. It's not going to Excell you through the game in any significant way. There's also no fishing requirement to catch anything in the game.
I just don't see this as necessary, and as such do not support the suggestion.

Absolutely not. Fishing is already uninteresting, grindy, and repetitive enough as it is. We don't need to make it worse.

Sorry, didn't know about it. I thought it was good RNG

the Golden fishing pole already takes a while to get, 30 quests is a lot of time. And you know, the vast majority of people when they do their quest, they also progress in the game, so the mechanical fishing rod or the Sitting Duck's Pole are useful and personally I have them all the time before the golden fishing rod. Making it harder to get and especially making it RNG is really bad in my opinion, It'll just make fishing even more painful than it already is.

Okay, maybe it's good that Golden Pole is guaranteed. Maybe it's me who always gets it pre-Sitting Duck

If it helps you feel better, I tend to go for Fiberglass from the jungle and that's usually my only pole for the entire run, so my progression is often Wood - Reinforced (both optional) - Fiberglass

I disagree that it's easy to get. Most people hate fishing and hate doing fishing quests. The Angler consistently ranks extremely low among player opinions. You could just grind out 30 fishing quests right away, but nobody does that because it's boring and tedious.

Yeah, this guy likes advertising his other ideas in Threads but I'm not him.
I think this is my first try adding link to another my Thread.

You got your point. Maybe you are right. It's just me who actually likes fishing. Maybe because I like long-term playthroughs.

Do you mean that this is the type of Idea I would like and support? Im actually going to say no here. I feel like the golden rod is fine as is, though I would like to see more hardmode rod progression, as stated in my other post. Even then, there is no reason to make obtaining the golden rod random.

I do include links to other threads where is makes sense. In my posts for example, my ideas often build on each other. And if you are saying I "advertise" in other threads that are not mine solely to "advertise" my ideas, that has never been the case. I would only ever include a link in my response to another post when I have already posted a similar idea, or the posted idea goes well with one.

Yeah bro that is what I meant. You advertise your ideas in your own posts.

Ah good, but yea again, I dont really see any problem with it if theyre related or build off each other. That same principle applies here, so feel free!

The Golden Fishing Pole new feature is actually good and makes the fishing process more effective, the devs only make this game better so why you should nerf what's already changed, the gameplay process shouldn't be cycled mainly around the fishing and waiting and wasting in-game days for angler which could be bad for "100 days in Terraria" videos. I think it's kinda pointless because you still can get lucky and get it from the first try. The guarantee also prevents artificilal chance of increasing it in speedruns. It's nice if the game becomes only better and less RNG and grindy, people don't think it's so unfair, it's like the Skeleton Merchant update selling items from surface chests because some people can feel bad that they got unlucky unlike others.

Golden Fishing Pole takes 3+ hours to obtain, this number climbs to 12+ if you aren’t dedicatedly grinding for it. I feel like vanilla golden fishing pole is just fine.
