What is a Ninja Creami ice cream machine?

TheNinja Creamimachine is wonderful for making frozen treats and especially good for those on a low carb or sugar free diet. It can make ice cream, sorbets, gelato, smoothies and milkshake. You make the base mixture and have to freeze them overnight but you then use the machine and you have ice cream (or whatever you want) in about 5 minutes.

Regular ice cream makers require you to use a frozen bowl that you pour your liquid mixture in and then let churn for 30 minutes. TheNinja Creamistarts with a frozen pint of the base mixture and then grinds it into a smooth and creamy ice cream in minutes.

Now I’m sure you can make this in a regular ice cream machine but if you are an ice cream lover I HIGHLY suggest checking out the Ninja Creami ice cream maker. Whoever invented this machine I want to thank you because you have changed my life. It makes the most delicious keto desserts!

Recipe ingredients I used and substitutions.

The keto friendly ingredients I used to make this orange creamsicle ice cream were almond milk, cream, orange jello mix, orange extract, and protein powder.

Unsweetened Almond Milk and Heavy Cream
I used both unsweetened almond milk and heavy whipping cream for the base of this ice cream. The almond milk balances out the heaviness of the cream. If you want you can just use the almond milk, a low carb milk alternative or even try coconut milk or coconut cream as dairy free options.

Orange Sugar Free Jello Mix
Most of my healthyNinja Creamirecipes use sugar free pudding as a secret ingredient to help create a creamy texture. However today I used sugar free Jello. You can use any brand you want but the Jello is necessary. You can even play around with different flavors. This adds both sweetness, orange juice flavor and helps the consistency so you can’t really skip it.

You could use unflavored gelatin but you would have to use added sweetener and orange flavor. You might want to use orange food coloring too if you use unflavored gelatin.

Orange Extract
I wanted to increase the orang flavor and so use this flavor extract. If you don’t have it you don’t have to go out and buy it. You could substitute with orange zest if you want. Otherwise the jello will add enough orange flavor.

IsoPure Low Carb Vanilla Protein Powder
This is one of my favorite brands of protein powder because it’s low carb and I like the flavor. You can however use any kind of low carb protein powder you want. It adds flavor, sweetness and protein. If you eliminate it you might have to add more sweetener.

Step 3: The next day take off the lid of the pint container and place it into the outer bowl assembly and attach the outer bowl lid. Place into the Ninja Creami machine and hit the Lite Ice Cream button.

When done, take the outer bowl lid off and check the consistency. Chances are good you have to run it through 2-3 times until it’s nice and creamy. This is what it looked like after 1 cycle. You can see it’s powdery.

Ninja Creami Keto Creamsicle Ice Cream

Yield: 2

Prep Time: 5 minutes

Additional Time: 1 day

Total Time: 1 day 5 minutes

This keto creamsicle ice cream is made in the Ninja Creami and is absolutely delicious. Smooth, creamy and also low calorie, high protein and sugar free. A delicious keto treat for those with a sweet tooth on a low carb diet.

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons sugar free orange gelatin
  • 1 scoop vanilla protein powder ( I used Isopure)
  • 1 teaspoon orange extract
  • 1 ½ cups unsweetened almond milk
  • ¼ cup heavy whipping cream

Instructions

  1. In a microwave safe bowl, add ½ cup of almond milk and place in the microwave. Heat for about 1 minute until almost boiling. Add the sugar free jello and whisk for a few minutes until the gelatin dissolves.
  2. Pour the remaining almond milk, cream, protein powder and orange extract into the blender and blend for a few seconds to combine. Then add the orange gelatin mixture and blend for a few seconds until well combined.
  3. Pour the mixture into a pint container that came with the Ninja Creami. Attach the lid on pint and place in the freezer overnight. Make sure you put it on a level surface so it freezes flat on top.
  4. When ready to eat, pull the pint from freezer and take off the storage lid. Place in the outer bowl assembly and attach that lid assembly.
  5. Place in the Ninja Creami machine and hit the LITE ice cream function. When it's done, check the texture. If it's powdery, place back in the outer bowl assembly and run through the LITE cycle again. When done check to see if you like the texture. If it's still not creamy run it through the LITE cycle one more time. If you still feel it's not smooth enough you can also add a tablespoon of almond milk between runs. For me it only took 2 runs.
  6. Spoon into bowl and enjoy. This should make 2 good size servings. If you have leftovers, store in the container it came with along with the lid and place in freezer. You will have to run it throught the machine again when you want to eat it.
