End of the Year & Graduation Info for the SHS Class of 2024 (2024)

Dear Class of 2024 and Families:

We are just under a month away from graduation and there are so many other events and things between now and then! This email is long, but contains everything you need (hopefully) in order to prepare for this whirlwind.

Seniors' last day of classes is May 23, 2024. Senior final exams will be held on Friday, May 24th, Tuesday, May 28th and Wednesday, May 29th. You can find the Senior Final Exam schedule here.

I can’t believe we are already preparing to send our seniors off into their future. It seems like only yesterday, they entered our doors for the first time.

We are busy preparing for the Elementary Graduate Walk, Senior Prom, Scholarship Knight, Class Night and Graduation, the next and final events for the Class of 2024. Although this letter may be long, it contains important information for you, as you prepare for these upcoming events. Please review the document carefully. Seniors should make special note of rehearsal dates and times. You may also view the Informationsheet for the Class of 2024 for the abbreviated information.

Cap and Gown Pick Up
Tuesday, May 14th or Thursday, May 16th

  • Seniors have already ordered their caps/gowns.

  • There is no cost to the student for these items.

  • Seniors will pick up their caps, gowns and stoles during their scheduled lunches on May 14th or May 16th.

  • Seniors may decorate their caps for graduation in accordance with the Cap Contract expectations, which must be signed and turned into the main office in order to decorate their cap.

OMS/Elementary Graduate Walk
Monday, May 20th

  • Permission Slips are Required and are due to the main office by Wednesday, May 15th.

  • Students who did not attend an elementary school in Stoughton may still participate. They should select one of the schools on the permission slip and turn the slip into the main office by May 15th.

  • Students will wear their caps and gowns for this event. Please do not bring your tassels (they often get lost).

  • Students will walk down to the middle school and then be bussed to their elementary school.

Chromebook Collection
Wednesday, May 22nd and Thursday, May 23rd

Senior Prom
Thursday, May 30th

  • All financial obligations to the school must be settled before a senior may purchase a prom ticket. Students may see anyone in the main office regarding any materials, uniforms, or money they owe.

  • Tickets are required and are being sold now thru May 14th at all 3 lunches. Tickets are $70.

  • Outside guests must complete an Outside Guest Form and be approved by Administration prior to a ticket purchase for the outside guest. These forms were due Tuesday, April 30th.

  • Seniors who purchased a ticket will arrive to the SHS by 4:45 pm to check in.

  • Buses depart from SHS at 5:15 pm.

  • All seniors and their guests are required to take the school provided buses to and from the prom.

  • The prom is being held at Lake Pearl in Wrentham (6-10pm).

  • Seniors and their guests will arrive back to SHS at 10:30 pm.

Scholarship Knight
Sunday, June 2nd at 4:00 pm

  • All are welcome to attend this event, but seniors who are receiving one or more scholarships, will receive an invitation to the event.

  • The evening begins at 4:00 pm in the SHS Auditorium.

  • Scholarship winners are announced and receive information and some monies on this evening.

Class Night Rehearsal
Tuesday, June 4th at 9:30 am

  • Class Night Rehearsal is required.

  • All seniors will report to the cafeteria at 9:30 am.

  • A rehearsal for the Class Night Program will commence. Seniors will receive information about the program and their role(s).

Class Night
Tuesday, June 4th at 6:30 pm

  • All seniors report to the gymnasium at 5:30 pm.

  • All seniors wear their gowns and stoles (no caps).

  • All parents, guardians and families are invited to Class Night, which begins at 6:30 pm.

  • Class Night is a celebration of the many senior accomplishments and includes awards and recognitions. The evening ends with a viewing of the Class of 2024 Video Yearbook production.

Graduation Rehearsal
Thursday, June 6th at 10:00 am

  • Graduation rehearsal is required.

  • Seniors report to the SHS cafeteria.

  • Seniors will participate in the rehearsal for the event and will receive information regarding the ceremony, arrival times, final report cards and graduation tickets (for if the event will be indoors).

Graduation
Thursday, June 6th at 5:30 pm

  • 4 p.m. Seniors report to a classroom marked with their Homebase on B1st or C1st. Caps and gowns & stoles are to be worn.

  • 5:30 p.m. Commencement Exercises at SHS. Graduation will be held either on the Turf Field (weather permitting) or in the Gymnasium (if it is raining).

  • If the graduation ceremony is outside on the Turf Field, tickets are not required. Seating in the stadium is first come first served.

  • If it rains, graduation will be held indoors in the gymnasium. TICKETS ARE REQUIRED TO ENTER THE GYMNASIUM. The number of tickets per graduate will be finalized when final grades are completed. Anyone without a ticket will be directed to the auditorium, where the graduation ceremony will be streamed.

  • The Graduation ceremony may also be watched live on the local cable station, Stoughton Media Access Channel (Comcast Channel 6 or Verizon Channel 26) and live streamed on Facebook.

Party All Night Long
Thursday, June 6th at 11:00 pm

  • Tickets are required. Tickets are on sale at all 3 lunches this week.

  • For SHS Seniors only.

  • Organized and put on by the parents/guardians of Stoughton and held in the O'Donnell Middle School from 11 p.m. - 5 a.m.

Specific Information for Graduation on June 6th:

  • Seniors will report to a classroom marked with their Homeroom on B1st or C1st @ 4:00 pm with their cap, gown, and stole.

  • Seniors should park in the shared Middle School Parking lot when they arrive.

  • Parking is available for guests in the parking lots surrounding the High School, Middle School, and Wilkins Elementary School. No street parking is allowed. The front parking lot (in front of the tennis courts, turf stadium) is Reserved parking only. Families should enter the high school campus from Adams Street, the Middle School Campus from Cushing Street or the Wilkins from Central Street.

  • Handicap parking is available with a placard. Handicap parking is available for guests in the front parking lot. Please call the Main Office to reserve Handicap Parking at (781) 344-7001 ext. 4141 or at m_carmichael@stoughtonschools.org. Guests who have reserved handicap parking should use the Adams Street Entrance (by the Tennis Courts).

  • Handicap seating is available in the bleachers.

  • Graduation will begin promptly at 5:30 pm.

  • Following the ceremony, graduates will report to the lawn behind the school where a large tent has been set up, to pick up their actual diplomas.

  • The following items are prohibited in the Turf Stadium and Gymnasium. Guests with prohibited items will be turned away.

    • Bags larger than 12"X12"X12": contents of bags could be inspected. Exceptions can be made for guests with special medical needs.

    • Any type of portable chair or seat other than those approved for persons with accessibility issues.

    • Tripods or monopods.

    • Flag poles over 2 feet in length.

    • Weapons of any kind, including pocket/utility knives.

    • Alcoholic beverages.

    • Illegal drugs and substances.

    • Tobacco products and vapes.

    • Animals other than service dogs assisting those with disabilities.

    • Noisemakers, bullhorns, air horns, vuvuzelas, etc.

    • Helium balloons, beach balls.

    • Stadium personnel reserves the right to deem any other items inappropriate.

  • The following applies specifically to any guest or graduate seated on the turf field:

    • No spiked shoes, cleats, or high heels may be worn on the turf field.

    • No food, gum, or liquid other than water is allowed on the turf field.
